The theme of my soundscape surrounds a day in the life of a food service worker, in my case, a day at Half Fast Subs. The story starts off slow, a car starting, traveling to work, and some quiet kitchen noises will set the scene for the beginning of the shift. Then, the shift picks up and the sounds start to layer on top of eachother, growing more chaotic as time goes by. After the rush, there's another lull for a while, followed by a short rush at the end of the night (usually when large groups of drunk college kids come in to buy drinks). The story will finish up with the sounds of cleaning the store, and finally the door closing and locking behind me.
Here is the basic outline for what I want the different scenes to consist of:
Traveling to work:
*Car starting
(maybe distorted music to give the impression of a car radio?)
Walking into work
Opening the store:
Cleaning: spray bottle, sweeping sounds
(maybe doorbell ringing to indicate the store is open?)
*Box ripping
Other kitchen noises (tbd)
Lunch Rush:
Phone rings once at the start
"Half Fast Subs how can I help you?" in a cheery voice
Sizzling/cooking sounds (chips crunching, chip bags, cans)
Knife attack
(maybe the timer going off and the oven opening and closing?)
*Stomps to give the impression of a crowd
"Half Fast Subs how can I help you?" distressed voice
The lull
phone rings, muffled answer
sweeping noises
drink pouring
Drink Rush
layered chatter noise
*stomps
drinks being poured
Cleaning after close:
*Trash in the wind
Throwing trash into the dumpster
Sweeping again
Sink draining sounds (*THE SLOSH, and the other water dunking sound)
Door closing and locking
Extra sounds to record:
sweeping, spray bottle, answering the phone, walking, big group in half fast, drink
pouring, door closing and locking, trash into the dumpster,
